This research firm was founded in 2008 with the following objectives:
- Promote research in biomedicine, epidemiology, public health and health services.
- Scientifically substantiate the programmes and policies of the health system.
- Preferentially encourage transnational research.
Since it was founded, BioCruces, has implemented a network of agreements and partnerships with the main biotechnology stakeholders in the Basque Country, highlighting among these: CIC bioGUNE, the Basque Centre for Applied Mathematics (BCAM), Ikerbasque and Achucarro.
The year 2017 marked the collaboration agreement between BBK and BioCruces, turning the BBK into the first private entity to form part of the General Assembly of this Health Research Institute.
A joint undertaking that both entities uphold in order to support new research services in the medical sector to help improve the healthcare provided to the population.
These scholarships are aimed at contributing to generate knowledge to help in the diagnosis, treatment and prevention of diseases. This is an initiative that year after year, seeks to retain and incorporate the talent of different experts in the sector, in order to accelerate the research and innovation processes between new specialists in the sector. An agreement by which as well as managing to promote employment, will manage to incentivize the collaboration with internationally recognised centres.
