Guggenheim Museum Bilbao
The Guggenheim Museum Bilbao and BBK are identified with the characteristic values of modern art that have a direct impact on society: the production of knowledge, innovation, the development of talent, integration, inclusion, effort and teamwork.

Educational activities at the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao

The Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is synonymous with economic vitality and for this reason our task as a Foundation consists of developing new programmes with innovative creative approaches, to enhance knowledge and understanding of modern art, to ensure that it is disseminated more widely among the general public and contribute to the social and cultural development of society in Bizkaia. To do this, the Museum has an activity programme aimed at adults and children, at schools and families, and at teachers and students to bring art within reach of society as a whole in Bizkaia.

Thanks to this collaboration agreement the Guggenheim Museum in Bilbao is making a wide range of tools, programmes and activities available to everyone so that they can enjoy and learn about modern and contemporary art and culture in general. Through this agreement, we encourage inclusive culture in the exhibition programme, by making the masterworks in its Collection and its architecture accessible for the general public, and specifically, for key groups such as families, schoolchildren, and people with special needs in Bizkaia.

BBK is committed to the major projects in the country and in Bizkaia, and is present in the most important cultural projects. BBK is also a Strategic Trustee of the Museum.

Cooperation with BBK also involves the development of social initiatives, such as guided tours for the disabled or deprived groups, or activities in collaboration with the children’s wards at hospitals in Basurto and Cruces.

The Cooperation agreement between BBK and the Guggenheim Museum Bilbao makes it possible to continue to hold socio-cultural events aimed at a wide variety of groups, always viewed from the perspective of bringing art within everybody’s reach, in the most suitable and attractive manner possible. Among these initiatives, it is worth mentioning the Christmas Children’s programmes or The Guggenheim Bilbao Nights when the Museum opens its doors at night with live jazz music for the Aste Nagusia.
