LEONORA

“Leonora” is a poetic approach to the universe of Leonora Carrington, focusing on her youth and her time in Spain after the Civil War. Rather than a literal biography, it seeks to bring fragments of the creator’s indomitable and sublime spirit to life on stage. The play is a love letter to her resilience, rebellion, and desire for freedom, inspired by her Down Below (Memorias de abajo). It explores artistic calling, psychiatric violence, and the imagination as a bridge between times and worlds. The magnetic force of her life and work continues to summon us: “If this stage were not a stage, it would be a canvas.”
