Board of Trustees
The Board of Trustees is the highest governing and representative body of the BBK Banking Foundation. Its main responsibility is to ensure compliance with the founding purposes and proper management of the assets and rights that make up its equity.
Is a lawyer and economist with extensive experience in both the public and private sectors, institutional government, and strategic management. He holds a degree in Law and a Diploma in Economics from the University of Deusto, and has completed his education with postgraduate studies in Administrative Law, Urban Planning, and Sustainability, a Master’s Degree in Legal Practice, and an ESADE program in senior management on boards of directors and digital transformation. His profile combines a solid legal and economic foundation with a management vision focused on good governance, innovation, and sustainability.
Throughout his career, he has held high-level positions, notably as Deputy General of Bizkaia between 2015 and 2023, as well as previous positions as mayor, Basque parliamentarian, and provincial deputy.
He has chaired and served on boards of directors and trustees of strategic entities in the fields of transport, industry, innovation, and culture, including Metro Bilbao, the Bizkaia Transport Consortium, AIC, Bilbao Ria 2000, and the Guggenheim Bilbao and the Museum of Fine Arts.
In the last period before joining BBK Banking Foundation, he worked in the field of corporate governance and investment as executive chairman of Elkarkidetza EPSV, which has assets of close to €1.5 billion, contributing his consolidated experience in finance, institutional management, and social commitment.
Law degree in economics from the University of Deusto-Bilbao. Currently he is Director General of the Athletic Club and Vice-President of the Fundación Bancaria Bilbao Bizkaia Kutxa-BBK. He has developed his career in the management of professional sport at the highest level and participates as a speaker in the main international organizations of professional football.
Law degree from the University of Deusto-Bilbao. Legal adviser to the Provincial Council of Bizkaia and to the Regional Institute for Social Assistance of the Department of Social Action. He is also a Tutor at the Faculty of Law, Department of Moral and Political Philosophy, National University of Distance Education, UNED. Former Director of Labour and Social Security in the Basque Government.
Banking professional with accumulated experience of 35 years. She joined the Bilbao Bank proposal, was Office Director, Director of Commercial Banking, Director of Personal Banking and after rotating through different departments and sections, she came to be part of the Board of Directors of the bank. In 2012 she joined the Board of Directors of Kutxabank S.A. and in 2019 she became a member of the Board of BBK. She is a regular collaborator in the management of the Caritas Diocesan of Bilbao.
She has a Degree in Economics and Business from the University of Deusto-Bilbao and a Master’s Degree in Advanced Management from the Deusto Business School. She has been a strategy consultant at KPMG, Director of Training at BBVA and Director of Talent at EiTB. She is currently a partner of Vesper, a company specialised in Organizational Transformation and Leadership. She is also a member of the Governing Council of Deusto University and the Board of Directors of Orkestra. Previously, she was a member of the Governing Council of Labayru Fundazioa and the Board of Directors of CAF.
Alba Álvarez has more than 15 years of experience leading teams and managing operations in international companies. As a founding partner of Delegate Solutions, she has developed and implemented organizational transformation and change management strategies. Her career includes key positions in multinational companies such as Decathlon, where she led strategic openings, achieving outstanding operational and financial goals. With a human and results-oriented approach, Alba has established herself as a key professional in leadership management and business efficiency.
Law degree from the University of Deusto-Bilbao and practising lawyer. He joined the Sociedad Rectora de la Bolsa de Valores de Bilbao, S.A.U. in 1990, taking over the Legal Counselling Department; later he was appointed Director of Supervision and Market. In 2000 he was appointed Deputy Director General and in 2015 President of the Bilbao Stock Exchange. Professor of Financial Law at the University of Deusto from 2002 to 2014. Currently he is President of Spanish Stock Exchanges and Markets, Sistemas de Negociación, S.A. and Professor in the Master of Business Law at the University of Deusto.
Graduated in Business Administration and Management from the University of the Basque Country, she has completed her training at the London School of Economics and the University of Leuven, as well as other specialization programmes. Currently, she is the Director of Corporate Development at DOMINION, serving on its Board of Directors. She has an international background and experience in industrial and technological enterprises in the fields of business management and capital markets.
Graduated in Business Administration and Management from the University of the Basque Country, she joined Caja de Ahorros Vizcaína in 1991, working throughout her career at Caja de Ahorros BBK and later at Kutxabank, where she held various positions as Risk Analyst, Financial Advisor or Office Manager. Subsequently, she completed her training with several monographic courses at the UNED (University of Distance Education of Bizkaia) on Social Anthropology, Basque Law, Legal Conflict Resolution and Contemporary History.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration and management from the University of Wales (UK) and Master’s degree in European Integration from the University of the Basque Country. Joined the Caja de Ahorros Municipa de Bilbao in 1978, working throughout his career at Caja de Ahorros BBK and later at Kutxabank, where she held various positions as Director of the Social Work Centre, Technical and Organizational Analyst, Coordinator of Linguistic Standardization or Head of the Social Work in Collaboration. Currently Trustee of the Athletic Club Foundation.
Degree in Information Sciences, specializing in Journalism, from the University of the Basque Country, he is a Consultant in Strategic and Corporate Communication. His professional activity in the field of journalism has been carried out in publications such as Cinco Días, Empresa XXI (Director) and Estrategia Empresarial (Director). He has led numerous strategic communication plans of companies and well-known entities and taught Communication classes in different Masters’ Degrees. Currently President of APNABI-Autismo Bizkaia, member of the Board of Directors of FEVAS-Plena Inclusión and Trustee of BBK Fundación Bancaria.
Degree in Political Science and Sociology (University of Deusto), PhD in Sociology (Public University of Navarra), Master’s Degree in Communication Management (Autonomous University of Barcelona) and in Digital Marketing and Business Communication (ESDEN). Currently a professor at Deusto University and part of the research team at Globernance, Institute for Democratic Governance. Previously she was a lecturer for two decades at the Public University of Navarra. Former member of the Bilbao City Council and Basque Parliament. She collaborates with EITB in discussions on current affairs.
Law graduate from the University of Deusto and practicing lawyer with 40 years of professional experience. She has been a member of the Governing Board of the Distinguished Bar of Bizkaia and has also served as a Real Estate Agent. President of the Athletic Club and member of the Spanish Football Federation.
Bachelor of Economics and Business from the University of the Basque Country, Master (MSC) in Urban and Regional Economic Studies from the London School of Economics and Political Science and Researcher in Industrial Economics, London School of Economics and Political Science. He has been the Director of Investment (CIO) at Lagun Aro, a Voluntary Social Welfare Institution, for more than two decades. He is a regular speaker at national and international congresses and conferences on investment, pension funds and economic policy.
Bachelor’s degree in Economics and Business from the University of the Basque Country and Master’s degree in Business Management from the University of the Basque Country. He completed his training with a diploma in tax law and tax counselling. He has worked as Director of Administration and Accounting in various companies and since 1993 is the founding partner and in charge of the tax area of the Ariz Asesores S.L. consultancy firm. He has been a board member of the Caja de Ahorros BBK and is currently Treasurer of the Chamber of Commerce of Bilbao and a member of its Executive Committee.
Law Degree, specialising in Economics from the University of Deusto-Bilbao, Doctor of Law from the University of the Basque Country and practicing lawyer. Professor of financial and tax law at the University of the Basque Country, the Faculty of Law at the University of Deusto and the Deusto Business School-Bilbao. He has published several articles and a monograph on the legal status of foundations. Currently Director of Legal Counsel and General Secretary of BBK.

Management team
We entrust the management and direction of the entity to people with the most appropriate knowledge, skills, experience and leadership to promote the fulfilment of our founding purposes.
Degree in Law, he has remained attached to Caja de Ahorros BBK since its inception, occupying various leadership positions, such as the Legal Advisory Department of the Business Area and the Social Projects and Foundations Department.
Bachelor’s degree in business administration and management, specialising in taxation, from the University of the Basque Country. He developed his professional career as an auditor and consultant at Deloitte, specializing in entities in the financial sector, until joining BBK as Chief Financial Officer.
Doctor of Law and Professor at the Institute of Economics and Social Sciences of the University of the Basque Country. He practiced law as a partner of the firm Makua Abogados and joins BBK to take over the General Secretariat of the Entity and occupy the Legal Department.
Graduated in Audiovisual Communication, with a master’s degree in multimedia journalism, she has been a strategic communications consultant for public and private institutions and companies.
Electrical engineer with extensive experience in companies in the automotive sector and after a long period as Plant Manager at ABB he joins BBK to take over Organization Management.
Bachelor’s degree in ADE and Master’s degree in Auditing, former auditor and consultant at Deloitte, joins BBK as Assistant to the Finance Department.
Graduated in Economic Law and MBA from the Instituto de Empresa, with a solid track record in companies linked to the technological sector. After being the General Director of Bilbao Ekintza, she joins BBK to take over as the Director of the Social Project.
Bachelor of Engineering in Telecommunications with extensive experience in analysis and investment banking.
