BBK Bilbao BSR kicks off a new season with BBK’s support and its sights set on Europe

BBK Bilbao BSR has kicked off the 2026–2027 season in the top tier of Spanish wheelchair basketball. The Bilbao-based team enters the new season with ambitious sporting goals and BBK’s backing as its main sponsor, strengthening a partnership that goes far beyond the basketball court.
After finishing fourth in the league last season and securing third place in Eurocup 1, the team, led by James Macsorley, aims to continue growing and establish itself among the leading wheelchair basketball teams in Spain and Europe. Its main objectives include competing for the top positions in the league, progressing as far as possible in the Copa del Rey and qualifying for the final stage of the Eurocup.
More than sport, a commitment to inclusion
Our support for BBK Bilbao BSR goes beyond competition. This partnership also contributes to developing young talent and promoting adapted sport among younger generations, bringing wheelchair basketball closer to schools across Bizkaia.
Through talks, demonstrations and awareness-raising activities, the club works to raise awareness of the experiences of people with disabilities, challenge stereotypes and foster a more inclusive society.
This sponsorship builds on our long-standing relationship with Bidaideak, an organisation committed to removing barriers and promoting the independence, well-being and social participation of people with disabilities.
Over the years, this collaboration has taken shape through initiatives such as equipping the Kabiezes Centre for Personal Autonomy, supporting the wheelchair basketball Eurocups held in Bilbao, sponsoring the Paracycling Bira for 22 years and purchasing adapted vehicles to facilitate transport for people with disabilities.
Continuing to build a Bizkaia with opportunities for everyone
With the start of this new season, we renew our commitment to sport as a powerful tool for social transformation, capable of creating opportunities, encouraging participation and contributing to people’s well-being.
Because sport does more than inspire great sporting achievements: it also helps break down barriers, bring people together and build a more inclusive and equal Bizkaia.
