The price to pay

What hidden cost is behind what we buy? A campaign that invites us to reflect on the real impact of our consumer decisions and to make the social, environmental and economic consequences that we often do not see on the label visible.

What is the true cost of what we buy?

«The Price to Pay» is an initiative that analyses the social, environmental and economic consequences of our consumption model. Through a powerful and impactful message, the BBK Banking Foundation is driving a debate on corporate social responsibility, sustainability and the need for a paradigm shift towards sustainable development.

A price is much more than just a number on a label. Behind every product or service there is a story of workers, raw materials, regulations and transparency. But when the price is set ignoring these factors, another hidden cost arises: the price we pay as a society.

This campaign is launched to raise awareness about sustainable competitiveness and the need to promote responsible business practices that ensure a level playing field, respect for the environment and fair trade. As a symbol of this message, the campaign represents the collapse of the Vizcaya Bridge, reflecting the impact of a system that prioritizes immediate benefit over real progress.

The price

The first price is the one we know: a figure that represents not only money, but also quality, decent working conditions and respect for the environment. A competitive and sustainable price ensures:

  • Decent working conditions: fair wages, regulated hours, safety at work and equal opportunities.
  • Environmental commitment: responsible use of natural resources, waste reduction and products without toxic impact.
  • Legal compliance and transparency: clear regulations, fair trade and responsibility

The other price, not shown, is the one we all pay when an economic model prioritizes profit at any cost. This invisible price is reflected in:

  • Labour exploitation: endless working hours, precarious wages, lack of rights and unhealthy conditions.
  • Environmental destruction: over-exploitation of resources, pollution, loss of biodiversity and toxic waste.
  • Fraud and corruption: evasion of regulations, price manipulation and unfair competition to the detriment of the whole society.

Sustainable competitiveness is a model that puts social and environmental welfare at the heart of the economy. The BBK Banking Foundation defends a system that is based on:

  • Quality employment and business ethics
  • Business transparency and compliance
  • Environmental sustainability and corporate social responsibility

In a world where measuring impact is key, we are committed to business development that ensures long-term well-being by promoting responsible and transparent initiatives. Investing in sustainable competitiveness is not just a matter of values, but the only way to ensure a fair and equitable future for all.
