“Discovering the power of air”
BBK Kuna , 11 July 2026 , 17:30h
Get ready to become a helicopter pilot. In this activity, children will build a small helicopter using cardstock, straws, and lightweight materials to discover how air can create movement.
Each participant will decorate the body of their helicopter using colours, stickers, and freehand drawings. They will then build the rotor blades and attach them to a small rotating structure. Once the assembly is complete, they will experiment by blowing through a straw to make the blades spin and observe how air can generate motion.
During the activity, we will talk about how air, even though we cannot see it, can push and move objects. Participants will discover that wind and moving air can turn propellers, windmills, and other machines designed to harness this force.
This hands-on activity encourages hand-eye coordination, observation skills, an understanding of cause and effect, and creativity through a technological, practical, and experimental learning experience.
