“Let’s create our hand-powered fan”

BBK Kuna , 22 July 2026 , 17:30h

Get ready to build a machine capable of moving air. In this activity, children will create a small hand-powered fan inspired by some of the earliest mechanisms that relied on movement to operate.

Once the construction is complete, participants will experiment by spinning the fan blades and observing how movement generates a flow of air. They will be able to compare what happens when the blades spin faster or slower and discover how a machine can function without the need for electricity.

During the activity, we will discuss how some machines operate using electrical energy, while others can be powered by the force of our own hands. Participants will also observe that each part has a specific function: the blades move the air, the axle allows rotation, and the base supports the entire structure.

This hands-on activity encourages hand-eye coordination, observation skills, cause-and-effect experimentation, and an early understanding of how some machines use movement to perform a specific function.
