Other Childhoods

The exhibition “Other Childhoods” invites us to discover the lives of children from different parts of the world through the lens of renowned photographers such as Michel Pedrero, finalist of World Press Photo 2022, and Benito Pajares, winner of World Press Photo in 2006.

Through this selection of photographs, we will travel across countries as diverse as Sudan, Myanmar, India, Botswana and Madagascar, discovering very different realities of childhood. Guided first by Michel Pedrero’s perspective, we will explore a range of social and cultural contexts before moving, through Benito Pajares’ images, into the harsh reality faced by thousands of children in Madagascar.

His photographs take us to places where childhood is pushed into labour exploitation, where many children are forced to contribute to their family economy by carrying out physically demanding tasks such as breaking stones, carrying bricks or transporting water containers.

An exhibition to observe, reflect and raise awareness of the many different realities experienced by children around the world.
