Anti-waste technology to get food to those who need it most.

One third of the food produced in the world ends up in the garbage, while millions of people go hungry.
This paradox was the driving force behind Denis Ugalde’s creation of Oreka, a technological solution that allows for the safe, fast and efficient donating of surplus food.
“I started looking for a solution, and that’s how Oreka was born,” explains Denis.
Its platform connects corporations, hospitals, schools and hotels with social entities within their environment, so that food in good condition reaches social canteens directly. Everyone wins, those who need food, the organizations that can donate it, and the planet, which avoids tons of waste.
Oreka is already present in six autonomous communities, recovering more than 7 tons of food a month that would otherwise end up in the garbage. The aim now is to continue growing, reach new sectors and multiply the positive impact.
With the support of BBK Arin, this project demonstrates that innovation can have a profound social impact, redefining the fight against food waste through technology and empathy».
