Kolapso
Are we bringing the planet to its point of no return? An artistic intervention that reflects the pressure we all exert on the world we inhabit, inviting us to reflect on the impact of our daily decisions before it is too late.
According to the United Nations, the planet is only three years away from reaching a point of no return. Kolapso emerges as an artistic intervention developed by the artist SpY, in charge of representing this tension through a visual metaphor, a balloon that inflates progressively until it explodes.
The piece was not created to last, but to collapse. Its fate was linked to the decisions we make every day as a society. Every action, unnecessary consumption, impulse purchase or tax evasion puts pressure on our world. And so, as in Kolapso, we end up tensing a rope that is about to break.
The experience was completed with a Bilbao metaverse, where people could interact and choose between different decisions. Their choices made the physical facility swell or deflate in real time. A symbolic mirror to show how our individual actions impact collectively.
