Sasoiko

A place to continue learning and sharing. We run and help to organise workshops, meetings and activities to foster active ageing, social participation and personal development into retirement.

About Sasoiko

Sasoiko is a meeting space for the over 55s who – once their working life is over – wish to remain active, by learning and passing on their experience to society.

We use culture, technology and intergenerational exchange to turn individual concerns into shared projects to improve and enrich our environment.

An innovative model that empowers active seniorhood to co-create citizen solutions, where the accumulated talent is converted to the driving force of a changing society.

Activities

Content and resources

An introduction to topics that will help us enjoy a fulfilling retirement. Resources created by experts or older adults who, like you, want to share tips on how to promote active ageing.

Talks on topical issues with experts, who will help with a clear and simple jargon-free explanation, while we share our points of view.

The camera is not just a technical item at the Sasoiko laboratories, but also a social tool. Older persons are not only in the frame, but they take ownership of the narrative to tell us their story, our history.

Talks and short sessions

Talks, workshops and short sessions lasting between 1 and 2 hours on current affairs, culture, technology, wellbeing and other topics of interest, presented in a clear, useful and accessible way. Led by professionals, they offer the chance to discover new knowledge, explore cultural activities such as opera, and learn about practical applications of technology in everyday life, with flexible participation and no obligation.

Practical workshops (short sessions)

Practical and informative sessions to help you cope better with everyday life, learn how to use digital tools, avoid scams and access services such as online banking or your health record securely. They also provide clear information on cancer, guidance on making the most of retirement, and different ways to get involved in volunteering and social initiatives.

Multi-session programmes

Group programmes comprising several sessions that enable participants to learn progressively, share experiences and forge new relationships. They include topics such as saving and financial planning, the role of grandparents today, sustainable fashion and reusing clothes, preparing emotionally for retirement, and the practical use of digital tools in everyday life.

Free activities to enjoy together

Free activities organised by the participants themselves to share knowledge, hobbies and initiatives with the community. These include film screenings, improvisational theatre, creative writing, poetry, self-awareness, wellbeing, relaxation, movement, dance and educational volunteering.
